Social Emotional Health & well-being

We are taking critical steps in these uncertain times to ensure that students are safe, healthy, and engaged. All necessary elements of academic, social-emotional, and personal success will be targeted comprehensively and school-wide. Our counseling team is taking proactive steps to provide access to resources and ongoing services to support students’ social emotional health, continued learning, and mental well-being. Our online Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs and resources function cohesively to maintain connections and nurture positive relationships between teachers and students as we fully transition to online platforms. We hope that by addressing the social-emotional well-being of students, this will promote a sense of belonging, school community, cultural affinity, and engagement.

***Content delivery and platforms will be differentiated based on age and developmental level of students.***

As we engage students in ongoing social emotional learning and development, we will continue to also provide lessons in mental health instruction which include:

  • Mental and Emotional Health Education: Grades 6-12
  • Child Trafficking Prevention Education: Grades K-12
  • Substance Abuse Education: Grades K-12

School counselors deliver their services through instruction (Tier I- evidence-based school counseling curriculum), small group (Tier 2- based on students’ needs), individually (Tier 3 brief-solution focused counseling), and through consultation (collaboration with parents, faculty, other educators and community organizations, including referral for mental health counseling services as necessary).
