The FAU Lab Schools District was recently named a “District of Distinction” by District Administration  magazine. Only 34 school systems from 19 states were honored in the July issue.

The FAU Lab School District is being recognized for its “Focus on Engineering: Using Engineering as a Pathway to STEM” program, in which educators push the limits of student development by fostering innovation, promoting early exposure to the hard sciences, and opening doors to research and hands-on discovery. The initiative impacts the local community by encouraging and supporting a diversified group of students to embrace STEM-related fields of study.

"To be one of 34 school districts across the nation being honored as a District of Distinction is incredibly humbling," said Sherry Bees, principal/director of A.D. Henderson and FAU High School. "Our team puts forth a great effort to launch programs and partner with outside organizations that truly give our students real-world knowledge.”

Districts of Distinction was established by District Administration magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new ideas that solve challenges. Honorees are selected based on quantifiable results and the replicability of their initiatives.
