What is a reimbursable meal?

The A.D. Henderson & FAU High School cafeteria offers students the opportunity to create a meal from a variety of food groups. According to the USDA guidelines a reimbursable meal consists of:

Breakfast – a selection of at least three (3) components of four (4) food items on offer- fruit, grain, fluid milk, and protein serving. The fruit serving is a mandatory component for the breakfast meal to be reimbursable.  If a student selects less than three components or omits the fruit component, the student’s SLA account will be charged for ala carte items.

Lunch – a selection of at least three (3) components of at least five (5) food items on offer - meat/meat alternate, grain, fruit, vegetable, and fluid milk. The fruit and vegetable serving is a mandatory component for the lunch meal to be reimbursable. If a student selects less than three components or omits the fruit and/or vegetable component, the food items selected will be charged to the student’s SLA account as ala carte items.
