Message From the Principal

Wednesday, Aug 06, 2025

Dear A.D. Henderson and Florida Atlantic University High School 9th Grade Families,

It’s time to welcome our students and families back for the start of the 2025-2026 school year! Our faculty and staff are excited to reconnect with returning students and warmly welcome those joining us for the first time. We know our students are just as eager as we are to dive into new learning experiences and spaces on our campus. Your children are about to embark on an amazing journey of discovery and achievement. This year on campus, they will have the opportunity to uncover history firsthand at our archaeological dig site, conduct cutting-edge experiments in our new state-of-the-art science laboratories, and push their athletic potential on our spectacular new track and field facilities. Throughout the year, our students will have countless opportunities to grow academically, athletically, and personally through a variety of programs and activities that will challenge, inspire, and prepare them for the future.

To help ensure a strong start to the school year, please review the following important reminders:

School Calendar
You can view and download the updated 2025–2026 School Calendar here . Please take a moment to review the important updates approved during the July SAB meeting. Additional academic calendars are available in the Parent Portal section of our school website .

Class Schedule on FOCUS
All class schedules have been updated and are now available in FOCUS. To view yours, log in to FOCUS, select “Class Schedule” from the left-hand menu, and print if needed. Please keep in mind that the student login protocol was changed to increase security. Additional student login information can be found here .

Arrival Times
Students registered for Before Care may arrive between 7:00–7:30 a.m. All other students must be dropped off no earlier than 7:30 a.m.

Beginning August 25, any student arriving at 8:00 a.m. or later must be signed in by a parent in the front office.

Thank you for helping us ensure that all students arrive on time, are in class, and ready to learn by 8:00 a.m.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The arrival and dismissal process may take a little longer during the first few weeks as students and families adjust to the routine. To help speed up arrival, please ensure your child is wearing their school ID and lanyard and is prepared to exit the vehicle promptly when you arrive.

If you did not pre-order school supplies or drop them off in advance, please send only what your child can comfortably carry on the first day of school. For safety and efficiency, we kindly ask that you remain in your vehicle and avoid placing supplies in the trunk.

To help us ensure a smooth and efficient dismissal process, especially for car riders, please make sure your School Pass account is updated with current pick-up details and approved contacts. Accurate information in School Pass allows us to quickly identify vehicles and safely dismiss students.

Florida Atlantic Student Move-in Day on August 12-13
In addition to being the first day of school, August 12 also marks dormitory move-in day for Florida Atlantic University students. As a result, traffic through the Research Park entrance from Spanish River Blvd. may be heavier than usual.

We encourage families to leave a little earlier for both arrival and dismissal and to exercise patience during the first few days as campus activity increases. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

Dismissal as a Walker, Biker, or Rider of Public Transportation & Lightning Delays
During the enrollment process, parents had an opportunity to authorize their child to walk, bike, or ride public transportation. To check if you have already authorized your student to walk, bike, or ride public transportation at dismissal, please log into your parent FOCUS account and view your child’s transportation authorization by selecting the student side menu > child info > additional contact info.

New transportation authorization forms can be accessed in your parent FOCUS account by using the student side menu > forms SUMMARY. The 2025-2026 Transportation Authorization Form is a link located at the top of the forms summary page.

Walker Procedures

  • Students in Grades 3–9 who are authorized as walkers may walk to the parking lot outside of the A.D. Henderson campus.
  • Kindergarten through 2nd grade students must be picked up on the sidewalk area between the main building and the gymnasium. Due to safety concerns, KG–2nd grade students will not be permitted to walk to the parking lot unless they are accompanied by a sibling in grades 3–9 who also attends ADHUS or FAUHS. All other KG–2nd grade students must be picked up on campus.

Please note: If there is lightning in the area at dismissal , we will delay the release of all walkers for their safety. In such cases, families will receive a notification and must pick up their child through the car line.

Dismissal Car Tags
If you have not received your car tag yet, your child will receive it on the first day of school. If you are picking up your child in the carline, please place your car tag on the passenger side dashboard every day during dismissal. If you need to order additional car tags, fill out this form

Students in the Henderson Enrichment School Program will receive two car tags. One car tag will be blue or red and have your child's information on it. The other car tag will be yellow, indicating that your child is being picked up from aftercare. Please have BOTH car tags on your dashboard during aftercare pick-up.

Kindergarten Staggered Schedule
To support a smooth transition into Kindergarten, students have been divided into three groups. Each child has been assigned one specific staggered start date for their first day of school:

  • Tuesday, August 12
  • Wednesday, August 13
  • Thursday, August 14

Families have received multiple emails throughout the summer with their child’s assigned staggered start date. If you are unsure of your child’s assigned day, please email adhusrecords@adhus.fau.edu

To eliminate any unnecessary stress for you and your child, Kindergarteners have several drop-off options on the staggered first day of school date:

  • Option 1: Drop off your child during the regular carline between 7:30–8:00 a.m.
  • Option 2: You may come to school at the conclusion of the regular carline at 8:10 am, park between 8:10 am-8:15 am, and walk your child into the building. Your child will be walked to their classroom by an ADHUS faculty member.

All Kindergarten students will resume the regular schedule and attend together for their 2nd day of school on Friday, August 15.

Aftercare Dismissal
Aftercare dismissal will occur from 3:15 pm-6:00 pm. If you plan on picking your child up before 3:15 pm, be sure to notify their teacher, and do NOT send them to aftercare that day. We will only dismiss students from aftercare at 3:15 pm.

School Pass
It is imperative that all families have a School Pass account with updated information to keep the dismissal line moving smoothly. If you did not receive an email from School Pass, or if you have any questions, please email Henschoolpass@adhus.fau.edu.

Student I.D. Reminder
Student IDs are an important part of our campus safety plan. We ask that all families ensure students are wearing their ID and lanyard each morning before leaving home.

  • Some students may have received their new ID during on-campus events this summer—those students should wear their IDs on the first day.
  • All other students will receive their ID within the first two days of school. If your child still has an ID from a previous school year, we ask that they wear it until they receive the updated one.
  • Students who do not have a previous ID will be given a temporary sticker until they receive their official one.

Each student will be provided with a breakaway-style ADHUS/FAUHS lanyard to use with their ID. If your child prefers to wear their own lanyard, it must be a breakaway style for safety reasons .

Please ensure that by Friday, August 15 , all students are wearing their updated school ID daily. Beginning on Monday, August 18, a $15 replacement fee will be charged to student accounts each time an ID is forgotten.

Thank you for partnering with us to maintain a safe and secure campus.

PTO Welcome Back
The FAU Lab School PTO would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new parents/guardians and a "welcome back" to our Owl family. Please read their letter here . We are grateful for your continued support and together we will make this a memorable year for all of our students and families.
