Message from the Superintendent
Wednesday, Jan 11, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! As we are re-establishing our routines after the winter break, I want to remind you of a few important points that are critical to student academic success and safety.
On-time arrival
To ensure our faculty can begin instruction on time without interruptions, our students must be on campus in their classrooms on time. Please ensure your child arrives on time and is ready to learn daily.
Several studies have shown that school tardiness has a negative impact on learning outcomes. Tardy students lose valuable educational instruction when they arrive late, disrupting the academic environment and distracting others in the class. Excessive student tardiness has a negative impact on a student's future (Ried, 2000).
Cellphone use in carline
Using cell phones in the carline is prohibited by Florida Statute. "A person may not operate a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device in a handheld manner in a designated school crossing, school zone, or work zone area." Please refrain from using your cell phone in the carline; it creates an unsafe environment for our students.
We appreciate your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Joel Herbst, Superintendent of Schools
