Collaboration with FAU College of Education: Advancing Teacher Development

As we continue to fulfill our mission of demonstrating best practices in teacher education, we are continuing to coordinate with the College of Education to develop and support future educators. This unprecedented transition to virtual learning serves as an opportunity for growth and development for our pre-service educators. By learning side-by-side with experienced educators, these future educators are building lessons, holding virtual meetings, supporting individual student needs, and communicating with parents. This experience, which complements more traditional training, will prove immensely valuable for these teachers in the emerging educational landscape, and will help them be better prepared as they embark on their teaching careers.

Research

Continuing to support our mission of conducting and supporting educational and developmental research, the Research Team is delivering four (4) university research courses for our early college dual enrolled high school students. As with other university courses fully transitioning to virtual instruction these courses will further leverage the use of Canvas LMS in providing online instruction, while providing interactive class meetings via Webex. All assignments, which include attending research seminars/workshops and presenting at the Florida Atlantic University’s Undergraduate Research Symposium have been adapted to a virtual platform. (For example, students are provided with pre-recorded scientific seminars to view in place of live, in-person seminars. The FAU Undergraduate Research Symposium has transitioned to a virtual symposium, so now we will take part in that virtual event.)
