Congratulations to Ella Pillitteri, the 2027 Teacher of the Year! Ms. Pillitteri's dedication to social studies education extends far beyond content delivery—she is committed to building confidence, critical thinking, and instilling a lifelong love of learning in young historians. "I strive every day to create the same sense of curiosity and excitement for my students that my teacher once inspired in me," she shares. Her impressive accomplishments include leading students in mock trial and academic games competitions, presenting at national conferences, and conducting meaningful action research to advance instructional practice.
Ms. Pillitteri demonstrates exceptional leadership guided by her commitment to community, innovation, and excellence in civic education. "Whether through national collaboration, local partnerships, or classroom practice, I aim to ensure that every student at A.D. Henderson experiences social studies as a meaningful exploration of the world and a realization of their role within it," she explains. Congratulations to Valerie Rivera, the 2026 School-Related Employee of the Year! Serving as an Administrative Assistant and Multimedia and Engagement Specialist, Ms. Rivera brings exceptional expertise to her multifaceted role. She recently earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA), which strengthened her leadership, communication, and organizational skills while gaining practical experience in strategic planning and data-driven decision-making. "Whether behind a desk or on the event floor, I take pride in wearing many hats to support staff, students, and school initiatives," she shares. "My contributions create an environment where teachers can thrive, students can succeed, and our community can see and celebrate the amazing work happening every day."
Ms. Rivera exemplifies the very best of Florida's school-related workforce, with her dedication, creativity, and professionalism elevating our school district's mission and strengthening its reputation across the state. She is an extraordinary asset to our school, and her impact is felt every day. While much of her work happens behind the scenes, it is meaningful and essential to our school's mission and the district's goals for excellence in education.
