A.D. Henderson Teams Named Regional Winners in ExploraVision Competition
Wednesday, Apr 09, 2025
Two talented elementary school teams have been named regional winners in the 33rd annual ExploraVision program, a nationwide science competition co-sponsored by Toshiba and the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA). This impressive achievement highlights our students' exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
ExploraVision challenges students to look toward the future and imagine potential solutions to real-world problems that might exist a decade or more from now. After their initial proposals, the winning regional teams moved on to the exciting next phase of the competition. They skillfully communicated their visions to the public by creating engaging posters or webpages and producing short videos that showcased their ingenuity.
Created by 2nd graders Jael Zeeb, Erandi Horn-Gomez, Mia Rodriguez, and Rebecca Brandt, Eye Understand: Glasses for People Who Use Sign Language is the regional winner for the K-3rd grade division.
Created by 4th graders Diane Abzalov, Saira Sahai, and Juno Granit-Welch, Breathe Buddy is the regional winner for the 4th-6th grade division.
The National Winners will be announced this month. We wish both teams the best of luck!
In addition to the regional winning projects, we had several Honorable Mention projects, placing them in the top 10% of all projects in the U.S. and Canada. Congratulations to elementary teams Levity, the Floating Library Chair (Lyanna Francois, Daniella Placide, and Luna Sampaio Kehdi), and UltraFilter (Daniel Leite and Ryan Leong). We also want to congratulate Mr. Altef's middle school teams, The Carbochip (Luis Beraldo, Pietro Garcia, Gabriel Moreira, Caitlyn Falcon), The Super Savvy Sprinkler (Felix Solari, Aarya Patel, Grant DeSiato, Joaquin Gomez-Liendo), HomeDome (Mia Kirsch, Avery Drees, Viktoria Firmino, Samuel Araujo), and BioReef DOC: Direct Ocean Capture (Aaron Loh, Hudson Haar, Mackenzie Ramos, Lars Erik Wiik).
