Florida Atlantic Laboratory Schools Receive FHSAA Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award

The athletic program at Florida Atlantic University High School has been selected as the Class 3A winner of the esteemed Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award . This Florida High School Athletic Association award recognizes member schools that promote sportsmanship on and off the field. The award is given to schools whose athletic teams demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship during the regular season and FHSAA State Series competition.

"The FHSAA takes great pride in promoting good sportsmanship through athletics," said a Florida High School Athletic Association representative. "Your student-athletes, fans, and administration are outstanding examples of what it means to be a good sport ."

The award, presented annually since 1991, is named in honor of FHSAA Commissioner Emeritus Fred E. Rozelle.

"By emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, our Athletic Department contributes to the positive culture of our school and community," said Kimberly Hallstrom, Assistant Principal of Florida Atlantic University High School. "Our students learn valuable life lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and grace under pressure, which will serve them well in their future endeavors."

The Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award is presented to one school in each classification whose total sports program best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship as demonstrated by its coaches, players, and spectators. Criteria for selecting winners include programs and activities implemented within the school and community to promote sportsmanship, the number and type of exceptional sportsmanship reports, and the source of the nomination.
