Two Cane Institute At FAU High Students Named Nation’s Top Scientists in Regeneron Science Talent Search 2022

Two Cane Institute students at FAU High School, Julianna Lian and Vivek Sreejithkumar, were named scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition.

Julianna won with her project titled Sargassum sp. Reductive, Polyphenol Extract Modulates D. dorotocephala Regeneration by Reduction of ROS, and has Potential as an Anti-Inflammatory Agent, while Vivek's project was titled The Evolution of the Identifiable Analysis of the COVID-19 Virus.

A total of 300 scholars were selected from 1,804 applications, which were received from 603 high schools across 46 states, two U.S. territories and eligible students living in eight other countries. Only 12 students in Florida were named scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, with The Cane Institue at FAU Lab School and Winter Springs High School are the only two schools in Florida with two students selected for this honor.

The scholars were selected based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists.
