THE CANE INSTITUTE AT FAU LAB SCHOOLS STUDENTS WIN AT 67TH STATE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

Fifteen middle and high school students represented  The Cane Institute  at FAU Lab Schools at the  67th State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida in Lakeland, Florida. More than 780 aspiring engineers, scientists, and mathematicians from across Florida competed in the 2022 State Science and Engineering Fair across 13 different categories. FAU Lab School students made up 15 of the 45 Palm Beach County students represented at the fair, and all FAU Lab School students received awards for their projects.

"Our student's pursuit of curiosity through research is at the heart of our school. Their exploration leads to discoveries that will reshape the world we live in. The Cane Institute is the hub for student inquiry and mentorship, equipping our student researchers to pursue discovery. Congratulations to each of the participating students and their mentors. We eagerly await their performances at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)," said Joel Herbst, Superintendent of Schools at FAU Lab Schools.

A.D. Henderson eighth-grader, Tanvi Desai, won first place in Cellular Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and was invited to compete in the  Broadcom Masters STEM competition  with her project  Quantitative Image Analysis of Ocean Acidification Effects on Argopecten irradians Shell Integrity.  Additionally, all six A.D. Henderson students received an invitation to participate in the prestigious  Broadcom Masters STEM competition  from the Palm Beach County Science Fair Regional Board.

At the conclusion of the awards ceremony on March 31, FAU High School students Satviki Singh, Saachi Mody, and Seymour Haque were selected to represent Florida at the  2022 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair  in May in Atlanta, Georgia. The ISEF is the world's largest international pre-college science competition, with more than 1,800 high school students from 75 countries, regions, and territories competing for approximately $4 million in prizes.
